After a beautiful, warm and sunny day, sadly very little wind for the 12 boats that turned out to race. We managed to drift around 1 short lap. The Flying Fifteens, Pipers and dinghies had their best turn out so far.
Pipers
The light wind conditions had the unexpected bonus of keeping the five strong Piper fleet in close proximity to each other throughout the race. Keeping her early season form, Robert Towart’s Staypuff timed her start to perfection to lead away from the line although Fergus Campbell quickly made amends for a lazy start to challenge for the lead and justifiably reached the first mark in pole position, narrowly ahead of the newly launched Leander ( Jim Campbell) and Neil Wilson’s Sanderling.
While there were further place changes later on which resurrected Staypuff to the runners up position, Tom Piper led the way home under the skilful guidance of Fergus, Ali Gordon and Hannah Petro to record her second victory and set the pace for the remaining half of this first Series of races
Flying Fifteens
It was good to see 3 boats out tonight, Nae Ffear took an early lead but More Mischieff found a streak of wind and sneaked past just before the first mark. Then on the run back to the club Nae Ffear found his own puff of wind to take the lead again but his luck run out and More Mischieff took the lead again.
